Rhode Island Biochar was founded on the belief that healthy soil is the foundation of healthy ecosystems — and that biochar is one of the most powerful tools we have to restore it.
Our mission
Produce and supply high-quality biochar to land managers, farmers, restoration ecologists, and municipalities across Rhode Island and New England. Our work is grounded in the science of soil health and guided by a commitment to ecological restoration.
Every batch of biochar we produce is made from diverted wood waste from pallet recycling operations, processed to consistent quality standards, and supplied with the technical guidance needed to apply it effectively. We believe in doing this work carefully, transparently, and in close partnership with the people and landscapes we serve.

Local sourcing
We source 100% of our biomass feedstock right here in Rhode Island, supporting local forestry and agricultural operations while reducing transportation impacts.
